Working parties
With a four-acre site there is plenty of healthy outdoor work involved in creating our new woodland and gardens and maintaining them.
There are a regular working party sessions on:
Fridays between 10.30am - 12.00pm.
If you would like to join a session, then please contact us beforehand to check its going ahead.
Other working party activities will be posted on Facebook.
Keeping an eye on key areas of the meadow in a ‘guardian’ role
Bill Baldry looks after the orchard area.
Cheryl Edwards is taking a lead on planting and maintenance in the reflective space, as well as laying the new paths.
Julie Peeling will be looking after the pond area.
Volunteering time and skills to help with special projects
Kev Brand used his plumbing skills to install our composting toilets.
Chris Knock advised on and dug our wildlife pond.
Jonathan Cook cuts our hedges and strims the verges.
David Thorpe mows the grass pathways and the play area.
Ian Clark has used his woodworking skills to create the bug hotel, medicine wheel posts, and chairs for the play area.
Steve Green organises maintenence of the play area, and performs the role of our health & safety officer.
Join our Board of Trustees
If have skills and experience you feel could be of benefit to the Oaks Meadow Project as a trustee, please do get in touch. We will be more than happy to discuss what your role as a trustee might involve, the level of commitment and responsibilities, etc.
Events
You can support us by helping to organise events as well as taking part and having some fun. We have a meadow focus/user group which helps to organise events - if you would be interested in taking part then please contact us.
I'm interested - what should I do next?
Working party dates are advertised on our Facebook page and via email updates. You don't have to book in advance but it is helpful to know who is planning to come in case of last minute changes of plan due to the weather.
