Visiting Oaks Meadow

Oaks Meadow is a newly established green space and play area in Little Finborough, adjacent to the villages of Combs and Battisford and approximately 2.5 miles from Stowmarket.

The Meadow is a work in progress and includes vegetable and medicine wheel gardens, a reflective space, orchard, wildlife pond with jetty, grassland and woodland. We have native and non-native plants, newly planted trees and some veteran trees. We are home to hares, rabbits, pheasants, deer and badgers, as well as butterflies and dragon flies.

Amenities include a children’s play area, exercise equipment, composting toilets and seated areas.

Opening hours

Hours may change throughout the year

Open 7 days a week:

The pedestrian access bridge from Bildeston Road is open at all times.

Vehicular access gates are open 9am to 5pm but this is weather dependent as currently cars can’t go onto the site if it is very muddy.  See further notes below.

Parking

Please do not park on the road or in the Vineyard car park

Parking at own risk

Please park on the grass at the Bildeston Road end of the site. The area may be muddy after heavy rainfall. Ground tends to be drier to the left of the entrance.

If the main gates are closed because the parking area is too muddy, you can park on the hard surface in front of the gates and use the pedestrian access (to the right of the main gates when facing the site).

We have plans to create an all-weather parking area and are currently seeking funding.

Accessibility

Wheelchair accessible

Wellies advised in winter

Oaks Meadow is mostly level with a gentle slope towards the pond. Paths are mown grass or wood chip.

Parts of the site can be muddy in winter especially after prolonged rainfall.

Play areas

Children’s play area including mud kitchen, outdoor exercise equipment and basketball hoop.
